About This Presentation:

On Thursday, July 23 at 6:30pm on 21 Sawyer Square in Jonesport, the guest speakers at the Jonesport Historical Society will be Jean Holmes and Oren Coheninyo, presenting “Jaffa Colony and the Friendship Road”. In celebration of 160 years of the 1866 Jaffa Colony, they will present the story of the Friendship House and Road, explaining the thirteen stations of the Friendship Road that they have developed over the past two years. These stations begin at Jonesport, continue to Jaffa American Colony and the Maine Friendship House, and from there, by the carriage of Rolla Floyd, to holy Jerusalem. This is an international project that has received support from the offices of Maine Senator Susan Collins.

A film will illustrate the story, in sections. Between each one, storyteller Oren Coheninyo will bring the story of the settlers and Rolla Floyd to life, with the value of friendship that he left in our hearts and along the Friendship Road.
